Psychologist and Participant Expectations
This is a skills based course, not counseling. Therefore we are not working on anxiety, depression, or other emotional areas but we can refer you to some great counselors who do work on those areas.
This is not a sit-and-get course, student participation is required. We will use games, scenarios, and videos to illustrate points and practice skills. Students receive written handouts to keep which summarize the new skills.
We are approaching this using a cognitive behavioral framework that if you can change your thinking and learn new skills, you can change your behavior.
How do we measure success? Observing results in your student may take time as your student is learning new skills or ‘replacement behaviors’ that might be competing with their old habits and behaviors that take time to change. However, we include 1 Zoom group follow up session to help with accountability and to reinforce learned skills.
You do not have to be a former client of ours for your student to participate but your student must be in grades 6, 7, 8, or 9. No exceptions.
Missed executive functioning course sessions are not made up or credited.
Full tuition refund within 72 hours before the first start date but within 72 hours, credit toward future services only.
