We offer remote tele-testing for the IQ screening and the Full IQ using the Reynolds Intellectual Assessment Scales (RIAS-2). This means you do not have to travel to the office. With tele-testing, you are in the same room with your child until testing starts and then you step out. You child’s computer must have a web camera.
We offer options for IQ testing your child for gifted. All come with a free video tour of the office to help your younger child feel comfortable and know where he or she will be working. If your child might be more comfortable with a female, Dr. Forgan’s daughter, Emily, is also a school psychologist and can do the IQ testing as does Katy Morton, another female associate. Just mention your preference when you call to schedule.
Full IQ / Gifted Testing ($375)
The public and private schools (Weiss School & Greene School) require full IQ testing. This is the individually administered IQ test. This process takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. Preschool age children take about 35-45 minutes. Before testing we make sure your child is comfortable and ready to go before starting. You are not in the same room but close by in the waiting area. The IQ results are given to you in summary on the day of testing and a written report is ready and emailed to you a day later. To qualify as gifted in the public schools a child needs to score 130 or above on the IQ test. Private schools have more flexibility in the IQ score they accept.
Optional Brief Gifted Testing/ IQ Screening ($125)
We offer an optional 20 minute gifted screening using a brief IQ test. This process is administered by an associate and will let us know if your child’s IQ is close enough to warrant the full gifted testing. The gifted screening is optional and costs $125. Results are given on the day of testing. If you decide to proceed with the full evaluation it will require another appointment to administer the full IQ test.
Meet and Greet ($50)
If your child is very shy or slow to warm up to new people, we offer a 15 minute ‘meet and greet’ appointment. You bring your child in on a day before testing and he or she meets with a psychologist, develops a rapport, and engages in some activities that will simulate what the gifted testing is like. This process is optional but helps very shy children feel more comfortable when they do the real testing.
