Kids Reading Series
Part of helping your child develop a love for reading is finding a series of books that ignites their passion for reading. Some kids delve into the Harry Potter series. Younger students enjoy Captain Underpants, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, or The Magic Tree House series. My middle school age son and I are currently reading what we believe is the best series ever. It’s a 40 book series called Left Behind: The Kids. Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins are two best selling authors and we find this series both exciting and informative.
I recommend you and your child spend time in the library or bookstore looking at books that interest them. If you don’t know where to start, ask the childrens’ librarian or research the top kids books on Amazon. It’s worth the time and effort when you see your child so excited to read. Even at my son’s middle school age he often says, “Lets read a little more.”, when we end our nightly reading. Given his kindergarten and first grade challenges with reading, his comments are music to my ears.
