Palm Beach Elementary Schools Offering Full Time Gifted Program

The Palm Beach Schools offer full time gifted classes for students in kindergarten through eighth grade.  If your child qualifies for a gifted program I recommend the full time gifted classes because then your child is with other gifted students all day in their Palm Beach School District elementary school.  When my daughter qualified for the Palm Beach Schools gifted program my wife and I enrolled her in the full time gifted classes and she has gone through school in somewhat of a cohort since the gifted kids tend to move through the grades together.  This was one benefit of gifted classes in Palm Beach because at the beginning of the year when school started she always new most of the kids in her class.  In addition, the gifted teachers in the full time gifted classes hold the gifted teacher certification which means they received additional coursework specific to designing educational programs to teach gifted kids.

If you need gifted testing for your child call or use the contact form above to email my office.  The Palm Beach gifted requirements include an individually administered IQ test.  They also require a second test of basic math and reading.  The gifted testing takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Have you wondered if your neighborhood school offers a full time gifted class?  It seems like that information should be easy to locate but surprisingly not so.  Thus, I complied a list of Palm Beach Elementary schools offering full time gifted classes.

Gifted Testing in the Palm Beaches.”

Gifted Testing in Jupiter Florida

As a school psychologist in Jupiter, Florida, I worked with a four and a half year old boy today to complete gifted class testing.  Yes, you can test a child at 4.5 years old for gifted because Palm Beach (Palm Beach School District) school offer kindergarten gifted programs.  Palm Beach schools are one of the few counties that offer full time gifted classrooms.  Thus, many parents have their child tested to see if the child tests gifted.

This boy’s mother found me on the internet and researched my background on my website, watched some of my gifted testing videos, and talked with me on the phone.  Upon scheduling she arrived on the scheduled date with her youngster.  Right away he was eager to meet me and said, “Hi Mr. Jim, are we going to do some cool things today?”  See, his mom prepared him for the testing and built it up as a positive experience.  This was the right way to approach testing.  Mom talked it up like an enjoyable experience filled with activities and things the boy would be good at doing.  It kept him in a good mood.  She did not stress him out by telling him this was for the gifted program.

I made him feel welcomed to my office by giving him a tour, pointing out interesting items, and showing him exactly how close his mom would be in the waiting area since it’s just outside my glass door.  He could see out and she could see in.  It helped make him feel comfortable as it does since most kids perform better on gifted testing when they know mom or dad is close by.  With four year olds we break about every 20 minutes.  He played with blocks, colored, and ate a snack.  The gifted class testing seemed like an enjoyable experience for him and he definitely did not feel any stress.  (This is an advantage to having your child privately tested for gifted as compared to testing by the public school system).

When the gifted testing was done he chose a reward from the prize box and played on his DS just outside my door while I explained the gifted testing results to mom.  She left with a written summary of the testing (I can’t tell you if he qualified as gifted) and I mail the complete report to her home.  Parents of kids in Palm Beach Gardens, Wellington FL, Jupiter, Royal Palm Beach, Delray Beach, Stuart, Port St. Lucie, and even Boca Raton FL come for gifted testing.

Every parent that work with me for gifted testing can use my Gifted Parent Preparation Program so you know exactly how to prepare your child for testing.  I believe in helping you help your child.  In my system you also receive all forms and 12 of my exclusive gifted videos!  You’ll have more information that 90% of parents out there and will be able to make the best decisions for your child.

Even if the child does not meet the Palm Beach school gifted criteria, the gifted child testing is informative.  Parents learn about their child’s IQ and it gives insight as what to expect from your child.  It provides a baseline for your child which I believe is valuable to know.  Again, the Palm Beach schools gifted testing is IQ, reading, and math.  The entire process takes under two hours.  Fill out the contact form or call me if you would like your child tested for gifted.

Gifted Children in West Palm Beach

I work with many families that move to south Florida (Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Wellington, Royal Palm Beach, Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens, Stuart, Port. St. Lucie) from other states.  Many families want to find out if their child qualifies for gifted classes or a gifted school.  The quickest way to learn if your child is gifted is to have private testing.  The Palm Beach or Martin School system will test your child for the gifted program but it usually takes months. I understand how important this testing is to you and your child and you want it done right by a psychologist that knows what he is doing.  After all, this testing influences your child’s future so I want to make sure you, and your child are prepared.

I am excellent at working with kids and I have a son and daughter of my own.  One of my children went through the Jupiter gifted classes and is now in high school.  Kids quickly develop a good rapport with me so that they feel comfortable and so we get a true picture of their abilities. ALL parents that work with me for gifted testing receive my Forgan Parent Support Systems Gifted Parent Preparation Program as part of the gifted testing experience so you you know exactly how to prepare your child for testing.  You also receive all Palm Beach Schools gifted teacher forms and 12 of my exclusive gifted videos!

What’s required to qualify as gifted in Palm Beach, Stuart, or Port. St. Lucie?  The gifted classes require an IQ of 130 or higher on an individually administered IQ test. In addition, the school system in Palm Beach requires your child to be advanced in either reading or math.  Your child must score a standard score of 119 or higher which means he or she is above 90% of same age students.

When I test your child I score the results and I explain them to you at the end of the testing.  You leave with a summary of the results and you know if your child meets the gifted criteria in Palm Beach. If your child qualifies the public school gifted classes you will have your child’s teacher fill out a gifted child checklist.  These forms are in my Gifted Parent Preparation Program that you receive when working with me.  Then the school meets with you and formalizes the paperwork.  Once your child is in a gifted program he or she remains there as long as they perform well.  You don’t have to retest or qualify every year.

Email or call if you have any questions.

Palm Beach Florida Gifted Education

The Palm Beach Florida Gifted Schools offer programs from Jupiter Florida to Boca Raton, Florida all the way to Wellington, Florida. In fact, the Palm Beach School District is one of the few Florida school systems offering gifted education at the kindergarten level.  Most school districts start gifted classes in first grade.  If you want your child in a gifted class in Palm Beach they must have an IQ test as well as reading and math tests.

I am excellent at working with kids and I have a boy and girl of my own.  Kids quickly develop a good rapport with me so that they feel comfortable and so we get a true picture of their abilities.

If you believe your child may be gifted some it’s always a good sign when his or her preschool teacher makes a recommendation to get private gifted testing.  Preschool teachers have a large group of kids that they can compare your child to so they know which kids are advanced enough to recommend for gifted testing.  Other gifted characteristics include being very verbal and talkative.  Gifted children are usually strong communicators and have a well developed vocabulary for their age.  Gifted children often ask insightful questions and are good at making connections.  They are constantly learning and seem to pick up on new concepts quickly.

If you want to know if your child is gifted I can administer an IQ test.  This is required by the public school system to determine if your child meets the gifed requirements.  The Palm Beach gifted classes require an IQ of 130 or higher on an individually administered IQ test.  Some common IQ tests are the WISC-IV, Reynolds, and Stanford-Binet.

In addition, the school system in Palm Beach requires your child to be advanced in either reading or math.  Your child must score a standard score of 119 or higher which means he or she is above 90% of same age students.  Look at your child’s test scores if your child is already in school and has taken the FCAT, ITBS, SAT, or similar type of test. You can get an indication of your child’s level because scores should be close to or above 90% in reading or math.

When I test your child I score the results so I can explain them to you at the end of the session.  You leave with a summary of the results and you know if your child meets the gifted criteria in Palm Beach. (I also test kids for Stuart and St. Lucie schools gifted programs). If your child qualifies the public school will have your child’s teacher fill out a gifted child checklist.  Call today for gifted testing.

Stuart Florida Gifted Classes

The Martin County School District (Stuart, FL; Jensen Beach, FL; Hobe Sound, FL) offers gifted programs for gifted children.   Gifted classes in Stuart, FL require special testing to qualify.  If you want your child in a gifted program he or she must be tested with an individually administered IQ test.

The most common way for your child to qualify for the Martin School District gifted program is to have an IQ score that is at or above the 98th percentile on an individually administered IQ test.  There are different IQ tests for preschool and school age children.  In the Stuart area schools, the child must also demonstrate academic achievement at the 90th percentile or higher in reading or mathematics.  Gifted testing takes about an hour and a half to complete.

According to the Educational Resource Information Center, research on gifted education indicates: Gifted students benefit from learning together and should be placed with similar students in their areas of strength.  It has been extremely difficult for regular education teachers to differentiate curriculum to meet the needs of gifted students in mixed ability classrooms.  When cooperative learning has been used in the regular education classroom, gifted students often become tutors and learn less academic content. Gifted students frequently know many concepts introduced in the regular education class and waste a lot of time.

Call me to discuss your child and especially if your child’s teacher has suggested testing.  This is a great sign of an advanced child since teachers have a great base to compare what is ‘normal’ or typical and what is advanced.
